So many of us want to be more productive, yet we need help with issues such as keeping our files organized and staying focused on the task at hand. The GTD or Get Things Done method can help you create an organized system to stay on task while maintaining control of your workflow and productivity.

Getting Things Done

The beginning of a project can sometimes be overwhelming because there are so many steps to complete. In addition, you may have many thoughts racing through your mind regarding the project, which makes it difficult and, in some cases, impossible for you to get started.

Project lists are powerful tools because they help you visualize each step as you write them down. Now you are no longer faced with one large task that seems impossible, but instead, multiple smaller tasks that are much easier for you to manage and complete.

A project is any idea with a desired outcome that requires you to take on multiple steps to complete it. With the GTD method, it is good to consolidate all the projects you have on your mind into one master list. From there, you can choose which project you need to work on next and relocate it to your Next Action list, where you will break it down into smaller tasks.

When you add an idea to your main project list, you set things in motion to eventually reach your final result. Placing these items on a list gives you visibility and control over all your continuing responsibilities.

Several tools are available to help you organize your digital files for your projects while keeping everything safe and centralized. Applications such as Google Keep, Evernote, and Notion give users more flexibility and power than they’d have with a simple to-do list or checklist.

Productivity Apps

The Notion application, for instance, allows you to create boards and place them into columns so that you know which projects are currently on hold, which are in progress, and which have already been completed. In addition, you can add files such as documents and images to these boards, permitting you to have everything you and your team need to complete each task.

These tools and advanced features work well with the GTD method and make completing a project less overwhelming.

Anyone who has problems managing or completing a project should consider using the GTD task management system. Doing so can help you organize your thoughts and break down large tasks so that your most impossible duties become less intimidating to you.
