There are two things entrepreneurs should always be prudent about: time and money. With very little time to do all that needs to be done for your business, you need some “shortcuts” to help you be and stay productive as an entrepreneur. As an entrepreneur, it is needed that you should always find ways to get the best out of your time and money.
Here are the top productivity hacks to help you get the best out of your time.
Dedicating a few minutes at the beginning of every week to creating the week’s plan can help you stay organised and get a lot done.
Here is an example of a week’s plan. Jack Dorsey – the co-founder and CEO of Twitter, has a set theme for each day—Monday is management, Tuesday is product, engineering, and design; Wednesday is marketing, growth, and communications; Thursday is partnership and developers; Friday is company and culture; Sunday is strategy and job interviews, and Saturday is a day off.
Having a plan like this gives you a sense of direction. Yours might not be repetitive like Jack Dorsey’s, but this gives you an idea of how to plan your week.
Assign tasks based on the plan for each day. While assigning tasks, ask yourself, “Why do I need to do this task?”, “What do I want to get out of this task?” or “Does this task help me achieve my daily plan?”
Answering these questions helps you decide if a task is worth doing and how much time you should spend on it.
Focus is the key to increased productivity, and a step to staying focused is being able to say “no” to unimportant tasks.
The 80-20 rule—which asserts that 80% of outcomes result from 20% of effort for any given event—is very effective here because with this rule, you can figure out the 20% to do and the 80% to leave out.
Time is golden and prioritising tasks is very important in your productivity hack. As you prioritise your tasks, ask yourself if you need to do the task right now, and then prioritise time-sensitive tasks before less urgent ones.
Communicate as much as possible through emails. If you can’t finish a conversation through email, set up a phone call or web meeting using Skype or your preferred calling method. A face-to-face meeting should be used only when other communication methods won’t work.
You are more productive when you are alert, and your alertness can be improved by working out and meditating. While assigning tasks, always create time for personal development because, during this period, you become aware of your weaknesses, strengths, and skills; this gives room for improvement.
Here is an anonymous quote about our inner circles; “Surround yourself with people that reflect who you want to be and how you want to feel; energies are contagious.”
Keeping in touch with other successful business owners will inspire you to work harder so you can achieve the same goals.
As an entrepreneur, you must develop a pattern that works for you. You will evaluate how the steps have worked for you, identify areas that need to be modified, make changes as required, test your personalized steps, and repeat the evaluation and modification process.
